Paintings by Clare Shankley
Clare is an emerging artist and resident of Solana Beach. In her former life, Clare was a scientist and then horticulturist. She draws her inspiration from a wide range of subjects including plants, desert landscapes, and man-made artifacts. Tutored by Rikki Reinholz, Clare focuses on creating the essence of her subject rather than a photographic image. She achieves this by the use of a palette of 7-8 primary watercolors, mingling the colors on the paper, not the palette, to create dramatic and challenging compositions. Clare has previously exhibited her paintings at three shows at a local art studio.
